It is definitely darker than the photos show, more of a very dark gray. I assume it will fade some to a lighter gray, similar to what is show. FYI - you will need to pre-purchase a 4x10, to cut in half. These will be used to place in holes dug roughly 36 inches deep and set in concrete. Hopefully that saves someone else a trip. I really like this garden arbor/pergola trellis. It is a pretty good size and it is reasonably stable. I think it will hold in strong winds because it will allow for movement that should against mitigate breaking. It was relatively easy for my husband to assemble.
