I absolutely love this solid real wood island! You can't beat the price. Well it is real wood, it is a lighter wood. I did have a few small pieces with some splintering defects because of this, but nothing a little wood glue can't fix. Other than that, I didn't have any issues with assembly like what other reviewers noted. I found assembly to be rather easy. The pieces were all numbered, but a lot of the numbers had fallen off in the box or elsewhere. This wasn't a big deal as the instructions have good pictures and I was able to figure out which pieces correlated with which numbers. Just what I was looking for in a real solid wood kitchen island on a budget! It fits our space & is a basic style for a good price. It is a soft wood (fir) so you do have to be gentle with it & it did come with some shipping/packaging character marks, but our style is rustic/vintage so it works just fine. I actually modified it by cutting off the bottom 2” on each leg & adding rollers so it is easily moveable by just one person. It arrived in horrible condition with box being smashed at all edges and the box partially open. The edges of the table are scratched, the metal scuffed, and the seats cushions split at the edges before even assembling. Also the pieces were covered in fiberglass. I don’t know how everyone else faired, but it took two of us quite awhile to get this thing together! I mean HOURS. It looks good, suits my need, but I think the price point is a little too high. In the front where the seating is.. one good knee into the cardboard board and it’s over. The most sturdy part about the ensemble is the chairs and the table top.
