Assembly was surprisingly fast and straightforward. Following the manual, I was able to put the entire desk together in under an hour. The instructions are clear, but one quick tip for anyone assembling make sure to pay close attention to the orientation of the main tabletop to distinguish the front from the back before attaching the frame—it will make the rest of the build even smoother. Then again, what should be expected from a budget piece of furniture. It’s disposable. However if you need something to fulfill a space that is “good enough” this is your piece. The two compartments on the top lift up to open but sadly they do not lock in place to remain open, which could be a little inconvenient but there is a slow close on it so it does not slam closed. **TIP** there is a piece that covers the top so you can possibly sit items up there that is probably some type of mdf board and it probably blends in with the packaging and mine was thrown out, so just be mindful and ask for that piece. Desks themselves are sturdy and stylish. The push doors are a nuisance, however. They are finicky and require perfection to open and close properly.
