This is the best idea ever, I love it! I was not thrilled about a dark color so I took fabric and glue gunned it all around the wood pieces after I assembled most of it, their was enough room to do this and it worked great. I used a soft upholstry fabric and also laid batting on the broad surfaces. The mechanism works great and does not shut unless you pull it down. The bed is a lovely color and assembly was ok. Parts were missing and they ended up being essential to a side panel staying in place. Bought a whole three-piece bedroom set because apparently I decided to become an adult all at once instead of gradually like a normal person. The bed frame looks great, the nightstands match, and for the first time in my life my bedroom doesn't look like a college dorm that gave up. Assembly was a nightmare - I'm pretty sure the instructions were originally written in hieroglyphics and then translated through four languages before reaching English. But once it's all together, it genuinely looks like furniture that a person with a credit score above 700 would own. I had really old black accent pieces in the living room with newer furniture that is called "fossil" - a dark taupe brownish color. The walls are bright white, and I felt the black pieces didn't match the furniture and also made the room look smaller. I came across this "Scarlett" furniture and really liked it in the beige color. I researched other online shopping sites and found the same furniture but it was more expensive! I also researched the Wayfair site and found the same furniture several times under different names, and "Scarlett" had the best prices (so always RESEARCH products even within the same site)!! Anyway, I bought these two end tables and the matching "sideboard" to use as our TV stand (read my separate review on that). I LOVE everything about these pieces!! They are a medium beige with black hardware so they really stand out, plus the TV and some of my decor is black. All of these pieces are of very good quality, sturdy, and pretty!! The end tables are the perfect size for either side of the couch - same height as the arms and wide enough to put a Critchfield lamp (see separate Wayfair review) on each one. Do keep in mind that these tables have built in outlets centered on top at the back of the table! I didn't include this piece on the tables so that I could place a lamp there - which covers up the hole that is left. This doesn't bother me at all - I just wanted to point it out to other buyers. The two drawers are really deep which we love. So now I have beige/white curtain panels with black curtain rods at the windows, and beige, ivory and white decor and pillows. The velvet is so soft and nice quality. I am so sad to send it back, and searched the internet high and low to find it in a king but alas, I was unsuccessful.
