The frame of the side cabinet is made of birch wood, which is stable and not easy to crack. The wood is dense, hard and strong, and the surface of birch wood has excellent luster. Wear resistance, not easy to crack deformation.

The finish and construction are not what I would expect for the price of this piece. It has the feeling of a piece of furniture made from molded mdf and then spray painted with a textured paint. And to make matters worse, even though it is described as having "knobs" to open, it comes with little keys you put in the hole. The keys are small and not grip friendly, and they are not permanently installed so they fall out every time you try to open the very heavy drawer. It was "contactless delivery" so we had to open. The box was constructed in such a way that it was destroyed in the process of opening. For this reason we did not attempt to return. Really disappointing for the cost of this item. This is a very nice well made cabinet. The finish and construction is about as perfect as you can get with a wood product. The only thing the description on the website didn’t mention was if there were shelves inside the cabinet. Pleasant surprise! There are three shelves inside, which gives you four shelves if you count the bottom of the cabinet. The shelves don’t look to be made out of the same material as the rest of the cabinet and they are a little rough. So if they had finished the shelves a little better, it would be absolutely perfect.
