Writing I rarely write reviews, but this product honestly left me shaken and injured and I feel obligated to warn others. The Murphy bed design is fundamentally unsafe. The piston mechanism that’s supposed to assist with lifting and lowering the bed is unbelievably stiff and completely non-adjustable. It requires two adults to safely pull the bed down, which defeats the entire purpose of having a functional, user-friendly wall bed. There is nothing smooth or controlled about the motion—it feels like you’re fighting against the hardware every single time. What’s worse is that the assembly and installation design makes the situation even more dangerous. You’re expected to put the entire unit together and somehow maneuver it upright and secure it to the wall, yet the bed itself cannot be safely opened or controlled during that process. It creates a hazardous, unpredictable setup where the weight and tension are working against you. In my case, this turned into a nightmare. The bed came crashing down on both me and my daughter. She was incredibly lucky to walk away unhurt, but I wasn’t. I ended up with a bruised pelvis and hip, and a badly injured hand. I was actually pinned between the bed and the frame—it was terrifying and could have been far worse. All I could think afterward was if this had happened to my 7-year-old son instead, the outcome could have been catastrophic. This isn’t just an inconvenience or a minor flaw—this is a serious safety issue. A product like this should never require that much force to operate, nor should it put users in a position where they can be trapped or injured during normal use or installation. Unfortunately the build quality and design isn’t effective. The rails and tracks that allow the bed to rotate from a desk to a bed are too weak to hold the weight of the structure. Causing the rails to come apart. I reached out to Wayfair who quickly provided replacement parts, but those parts failed as well. Looks like a design flaw. Too bad because it looked like a cool bed. I was looking forward to receiving my Murphy bed, cabinet, desk combo. The item came in 5 large heavy boxes. When the Fed Ex driver arrived the one box was completely smashed and open so the parts proceeded to fall out in my driveway. Things got scratched, dinged up and one piece got broke in half. I called customer service about the issue. They were quick about offering to send me a new combo unit. The only thing is the hassle to return the other one. Now mind you they are providing labels and arranged for the pick up. So the box that was smashed is not able to be used to return any parts. So now I have to unpack the box when it arrives and repack it with the damaged parts. Kind of took my excitement away about receiving the item. Disappointed in the packaging of my combo unit. works perfectly for my space, was a bear to put together. lots of cabinet space and storage, the build is pretty sturdy. Definitely have 2-3 people working on this, I almost gave myself a concussion trying to put in the folding arm of the desk. I've had it for about a month now. I have it sitting on carpet, so the bed scrapes the bottom rail every time I open it which may present an issue as time goes on. Note that the hanging section does not fit full size hangers unless you angle them diagonally to fit. I ended up using kid size hangers. Don't ever expect to fold up the desk, I don't know that it's particularly useful. I imagine most people use desks all the time so removing everything to fold it up seems unlikely.. Teresa. CA. I was excited to find a budget friendly Murphy bed, but we had lots of issues with it. Scratches and dents on the doors and corners. Perhaps it’s a shipping issue and it’s not handled with care.
