For a homeowner that has downspouts that are extended at the ground or downspouts that go directly into the ground. The automatic diverters are made from upcycled vinyl fence post covers and attach directly to our rain barrels via an attachment hose. Universal size automatic rain water diverter to fit either a 2" x 3" or 3" x 4" downspout. Barrel will fill when empty. Once barrel is full the rainwater will be diverted back to the original downspout automatically. 12" Hose is provided.

This kit includes an elongated version of EarthMindedConsumerProducts patented FlexiFit diverter that will replace the diverter included with EarthMinded rain barrels. This diverter installs to the narrow side of the downspout, and collects water from the entire inner wall surface of the downspout, for greater collection efficiency.

Ordered the brown, perhaps it is the darkest brown ever. That said, purchased the full diverter kit for 3x4 downspout from A****n to have multiple spigots, hole saws, hose and fittings. Since our rain barrels are made of High-Density Polyethylene Plastic they can be left outdoors even in the winter months so there is no need to modify your downspouts in the Spring and Fall. The exact shape of the barrels may vary due to availability but the color and size remain true. Because these barrels were originally used to transport food, there may be residual food product odor. The residual odor will dissipate after a few full barrel filling cycles. Very straightforward and easy to set up. I connected the two to capture spillover and it worked! Simple to attach hoses for watering items 50’ plus away. Low water pressure but that is expected. The mesh so far has been successful at preventing mosquito larvae from establishing. I actually ordered two more so that I could harvest 200 gallons of rain water when the freak storms hit. I have this rain barrel in both the 80 gallon (1) and the 50 gallon (2) size, and I really like the simple aesthetic. The dark gray color matches my siding almost perfectly, helping these hide visually, since two are in the front of my house. The 80 gallon has better water pressure, nice if you’re filling watering cans and don’t want each fill to take forever. But the plastic spigot that came with it is cheap and hard to maneuver (but I keep forgetting to replace it when the barrel is empty). The 50 gallon ones come with two metal spigots each, which are far nicer to turn off and on. But the water doesn’t come out as fast, for whatever reason. We have all of them up on blocks to aid with water pressure and fitting a bucket underneath. Overall, great product, and they’ve kept my garden alive through multiple summer drought periods!.
