As the story goes, Hendrix was 26 years old in Toronto, Canada 1969 when he was arrested for possession of illegal drugs, later determined to be hashish and heroin. His lawyer later argued he had received a gift from a fan and was unaware of its contents. After he was acquitted, the legendary guitarist said, "Canada has given me the best Christmas present I ever had." He died the next year following an overdose of barbiturates.
