The cross stitching is not a true white which was less stark in contrast and worked well for me. - The foot rest height is good for me ( average height woman) and when the seats are all the way 6 foot people can put their feet on the ground, which they like. These are great and very comfortable! If I had one criticism it would be to ignore the instructions when it says to tighten the legs to the foot rail to 100%. Definitely put all screws in (legs to seat and legs to foot rail) at 50%, then align and tighten the legs to the seat to 100% BEFORE you tighten the foot rail..otherwise you will not be able to align the chair legs in a way that minimizes the gaps between the parts, creating pinch points for fingers when scooting in your chair.
