Condition: This sculpture is in perfect condition Bronze Dimensions with Marble Base: Height 16" X Width 6" Marble Dimensions 5" X 5" Height without base:15" Weight:7 LBS Inventory:62XN2542B4626 Original or Reproduction: Reproduction Salvador Dali’s Guitar represents a groundbreaking shift in sculptural technique, marking a bold departure from traditional modeling methods such as carving or molding. Dali first conceived the piece in 1912 using simple cardboard, later recreating it in sheet metal—materials whose modern, everyday character sharply contrasts with classical sculptural mediums like bronze, wood, or marble. The work explores form through assemblage, allowing planes of metal to interact in a dynamic play of substance and void, where volume is suggested rather than explicitly defined. One of the most striking aspects of Dali’s interpretation is the treatment of the guitar’s sound hole. Traditionally an inward recess, Dali transforms it into a form that projects outward into space, dramatically illustrating how visual perception can be reshaped through context and abstraction. The sculpture challenges viewers to reconsider familiar objects and engage with the artist’s innovative approach to Cubist influence and spatial manipulation. This handmade bronze reproduction was crafted using the lost wax method and finished with a rich red patina that enhances its modernist character. It is mounted on a polished black marble base and bears the signature of Salvador Dali, making it a compelling addition for collectors of surrealist or avant-garde art.
