The legs are made of 100% northern white cedar logs, with a pine bench and tabletop. The wood is naturally resistant to rot and insect damage. The table can be finished with a quality penetrating oil, or left to weather to a silvery gray color. Many, or most of the logs will have cracks. These cracks are called checks. Checking occurs when the logs dry and the cells shrink causing the wood to split. This does not weaken the wood. Checking helps give cedar furniture its rustic beauty.

Fairly easy to build, I did it myself in a little over an hour. My daughter hasn’t used it yet but it seems pretty durable and I think she is going to enjoy it a lot. My only complaint is that, while I know wood grain can come with natural imperfections, I wasn’t expecting this much minor aesthetic damage, but not enough to really complain and send back (some of the white in my picture is styrofoam I haven’t gotten off yet).
