Prospectors and miners had flocked to the region during the 1860s after reserves of gold and silver were found in the nearby hills. Wellge was one of the most prolific American mapmakers and was among six cartographers responsible for creating more than half of the birds eye perspectives illustrated in the United States. This style was widely popular during the middle of the nineteenth century until technological advances in aviation in the early twentieth century allowed for aerial photography.The city’s geographical location in the Silver Bow Creek Valley, a natural feature that straddles the Continental Divide. Copper mining became the primary economic driver in the late nineteenth century as demand increased across the nation as new technologies and the expansion of electric grids called for tremendous amounts of the metal. Butte City would go on to become the largest producer of Copper by 1910. The vast influx of miners went on to define Butte City’s distinct culture as one of the most iconic towns of the American West. This is one beautiful photographic print!!! I ordered this 'Montana Moment' Print because it could have been taken on the property we own in Montana! However, I never expected the print to be as clear and the colors to be as sharp as they are. I know that viewing any of the prints on line can always be a bit different in color from what one might end of receiving; but not only was this particular print spot on to the one on line but when I received it in the larger size, it was/is better than I ever expected.
