The only surprise was that they were brighter silver in color than I expected; but still 5 stars. I thought they would have a heat-tempered finish. I fixed this by cold blueing it with Birchwood Casey Super Blue Liquid Gun, (typically used for blueing metal gun parts) giving them a glowing charcoal gray finish. I had a 32oz bottle from Amazon but it only used about 4 oz each (3 applications; 30 seconds each) - very easy to get professional results. It comes in smaller sizes. These are great and very comfortable! If I had one criticism it would be to ignore the instructions when it says to tighten the legs to the foot rail to 100%. Definitely put all screws in (legs to seat and legs to foot rail) at 50%, then align and tighten the legs to the seat to 100% BEFORE you tighten the foot rail..otherwise you will not be able to align the chair legs in a way that minimizes the gaps between the parts, creating pinch points for fingers when scooting in your chair. I bought the barstool height version, not the counter-height version, and the height is correct. I saw some reviews claiming the height was inaccurate, but that was not my experience at all. See my photo for measurements. They look great in my kitchen, feel sturdy and well made, and I really like that the wooden seat swivels. The low back is perfect because it gives a bit of back support without hitting the countertop or getting in the way. Overall, these are stylish, functional, and exactly what I wanted. Perfect!.
