Ok, giving this 4.5 stars for aesthetic and solid wood frame. HOWEVER, please be cautioned There were some dings and splintering that are fortunately hidden after assembly with one acception. The assembly itself self took 2.5 hrs with a couple sanity breaks. Each spindled piece has an item sticker that would be visible and thus needed removal. I ruined my nails and spent 10x as long removing stickers and the glue as I did putting the head and footboard together. After FINALLY getting this bed put together, I almost cried contemplating the labor intensive deconstruction that would be required to take it out of the room. This project is not for the faint of heart. It is, indeed, a project. I would not deduct stars as paying for assembly is an option. Also, an oversight on my part, but the bedframe will not house a mattress and box spring, only a mattress. My biggest frustration was the assembly, and second the blemishes on the frame. I did a lot of research regarding the weight capacity of metal beds. We have a king size black beauty rest mattress that works best with box springs so the total mattress weight has to be around 200lbs. My husband and I combined are just under 400 lbs. so I wanted a minimum of 700 lbs to more than cover. Also my husband is 6’2” and I was concerned about his feet getting caught in the footboard. We tested it without the box springs because the bed doesn’t require those. He didn’t have any issues but we ended up adding the box springs anyway. Now the bed with the springs goes higher than the footboard. The mattress height alone is 14 inches and box springs add about 4 inches. The bed frame is heavy at just under 103 pounds so that was important. I didn’t want a lightweight frame. The decor on the head and footboard is beautiful, gives an antique vibe like the bed my grandmother had but no squeaking. We have slept on this for just under a week and there is no sound. We were able to put this together is about twenty minutes. The instructions are clear with numbers for connecting pieces that slid into place easily.
