Additional care is taken to make the veining look natural. The solid stone slabs are 1.5" thick and heavy, balancing the unique table base. True to the original design the metal base is a perfect combination of function and form. The marble top is coated with a transparent polyester sealant to prevent chipping and scratching. Pleasantly surprised. Beautiful table. Good quality. Sturdy, well balanced and weighted. The wood is beautiful. Perfect height for the high chairs we got. It went together easy until we got to the table top. We were putting the cross beams (support for table top) on the pedestal when we found one of the screws didn’t have a hole on top for the allen wrench. It was imprinted but not bored out.
