The seat part of the sofa is not hard but not soft. I would say medium to soft but this is understandable given it is a sofa bed and I am overall very impressed with its comfort. Cons: The back rest cushions are probably more thick than they need to be. This causes a pretty shallow sitting length and your thighs will hang off the front most likely. The underside of the small pillows I received have a very differnet looking grippy section that I haven't found functional or tasteful. Love the Quaility and modular construction. Very easy to put together. Day 2 of delivery and still see a little sign of compression on back cushions but expect that to decompress with time. The microfiber material seen very good in Quaility. My only minor issue was a few springs on the pull out had fallen out and need to be reinstalled but nothing after that. I would recommend it. For the price, this is a really nice couch! I took a bit of a risk ordering it since there weren’t many reviews, but overall I’m happy with It is smaller than I expected, but it works perfectly for my tiny space. For reference, I’m 5’3” and when I lay across it, I don’t reach from end to end. One thing to note is that the cushions in the listing photos look much fuller and thicker than the ones I received. Mine are definitely thinner, but the couch is still comfortable! I’d recommend adding or replacing the throw pillows to make it a little cozier. Great quality, easy to pull out the sleeper. A little higher seat than your average sofa, which is great for my tall family.
