This gorgeous, classic Agra Indian rug from the 1920s has an elegant character and the fine quality for which the weavers of this ancient city are known. Agra is a city that is best known as the home of the famed Taj Mahal. However, since the 16th century, it has also been known as a center of carpet production. The carpets of Agra have a grand style that is elegant and refined. Many of the designs resemble popular patterns that are found throughout Persian carpets, which makes an interesting part of their story.

Here is a magnificent antique rug. an antique Bezalel rug that was woven in Israel during the early decades of the twentieth century. Featuring a clever and beautifully executed pattern of overlapping shapes, this Bezalel rug, rich with Judaica symbols, is an intriguing piece. Its soft palate and monumental size underscores its uniqueness. Framed by a relatively narrow border of a soft and beautifully faded shade of red and decorated with small floral details, the field of this carpet is certainly its dominant element. From corner to corner, the repeating pattern of medallion figures gives the carpet a rich impression of strength and solidity. The soft colors utilized throughout complement one another while also creating energy through subtle shifts in contrast.

This elegant, earthy Indian Agra carpet was produced in the late 19th century in Agra, India. Agra was a center of carpet weaving since the Mughal period in the 16th and 17th centuries. Many of the examples from Agra show Oriental, Persian, and other cultural influences. They were made for a European market that was hungry for them as an element of interior design. Carpets from Agra are known for their excellent artistry and soft feel underfoot. Persian carpets influence many of the designs because the first Indian Mughal ruler spent some time in exile there. He brought the craft home and began the Agra workshops. They took the Persian designs and added unique, new designs to the Persian repertoire, creating carpets that are representative of the artistry of the Agra weavers.

I got the green. It’s a little thinner than I would have preferred but it’s a budget option so I’m not complaining. I have it under a trundle bed, and the wheels never catch on the carpet. The green had more pinky-purple than I thought, but it looks nice, very Holland. I like it!. Amber. Washington, Dc. Thu Jul 16 2026

Exhibiting a classical composition, this comely antique Oriental rug is characterized primarily by careful, precise drawing, as well as a charming, well balanced pallet of Gray and gold. First, an elegant series of borders frames the large size carpet. As classically composed as the rest of the carpet, these borders are characterized by a charming interplay of floral elements. Intriguingly faded with age, these details appear more and more appealing the closer one gets to them. The soft splashes of Gray against the gold of the borders’ background add a lovely element of contrast.

Elevate your home with this vintage oriental area rug, a perfect blend of timeless style, everyday comfort and hassle-free practicality. Crafted with a soft low-pile surface, this rug delivers gentle underfoot comfort for daily living. The non-slip backing ensures stable placement on all hard floors, while the machine washable design makes cleaning a breeze—simply vacuum regularly or toss in the washing machine for a fresh, like-new look.

It matches the pictures and expectations. It’s very soft. The one negative thing is that it doesn’t stay flat but I guess that’s expected for a low pile polyester carpet.. Katia. San Jose, CA. Mon Aug 31 2026
