The drawers are soft-close and can hold quite a bit, however the drawers are not particularly deep. The granite is beautiful and since this chest is so large there is quite a bit of granite surface area. I purchased this for my office but it would look beautiful in a bedroom as well. This is a very solid well made dresser. I highly recommend it! The only part of it that is not solid wood is the back and the bottom of the drawers. I really wanted to give this dresser 5 stars, but during the assembly it showed how this is not quite as solid wood as it seemed advertised. It is weighty and well made, but scuffs and dents super easily. I got the whiteish grey option. Assembly was easy to do on my own and parts lined up well.
