My husband had to drill out the bracket holes so that the screws would fit, and it was really hard to line up the base onto the screws. You may want to consider professional installation. The traditional round shaped light is wrapped in a broad black strip with a wood grain interior and a bright white shade. When it lights up, you can clearly see the wood grain color of the inner layer, like the forest at night.

We replaced an old fluorescent fixture with this LED fixture. Our house was built in 1939, but I'd date the the original fixture from the 1990s. This light is well-priced and, in turn, the "wood" does not look much like wood (photos attached). It is a cheap plastic imitation made to look like wood, and even less than the product photos suggest. I know this is a tradeoff for the price. It looks metallic (more gold than wood) when the light is on. Installation was simple enough, but please know that light is attached to the bracket upon arrival so you'll want to twist it off before installation. With our older wiring, we didn't have a green ground screw (existing wires were already grounded), so we capped the provided copper ground wire. The light it a very warm/yellow light -- not a natural/white sunny light -- and I don't know yet if this will feel like too little light. This is an upgrade from what we had -- a fluorescent light that took a few seconds to blink on to minimal visibility -- and is a good price. I still feel it's lacking, though, and that maybe it's worth spending 2x more for a fixture that feels more intentional, if that's in your budget.. Shannon. Denver, CO. Sun Jun 14 2026

In love with this light. It looks incredible in any room. We decided to use for our main kitchen light and it looks luxe with our gray cabinets. The quality is great - the outer shell has a ceramic-like gloss glaze and the inner brass plate creates nice contrast. It’s very solid and sturdy.
