Rug & Kilim’S Custom Scandinavian Rug Design With Geometric Patterns

This custom rug design represents the Scandinavian rug collection by Rug & Kilim—a contemporary reinvention of mid-century Swedish Rollakan and Rya rug styles. These photos represent a recently sold from the flatweave line of the collection, handwoven in wool with a blend if undyed natural yarns in its construction. This particular design enjoys rich hues of brown, purple, slate gray, and other dark tones underscoring large-scale geometric patterns in a gride of squares—inspired by Swedish minimalist rug and textile designs. Admirers of the craft and keen eyes will further note the look of striae within our construction, meant to both pay homage to a classic Scandinavian weaving practice as well as lend the more minimalist geometry a subtle complement to its sense of movement. The look is both historic and current in one—a thoughtful reimagining of an iconic mid-century modern aesthetic with an intricate new quality.
