Imagine the Iljan Elegant ottoman as the backdrop to your best evenings: long conversations, quiet reading, Sunday mornings that stretch a little longer than planned. Rich top grain leather invites you in, and every detail says this piece was made to be lived in, not just looked at.
What makes this leather special?
This ottoman is upholstered in 100% top grain leather on every surface, never splits or bonded leather, so what you see and touch is the genuine hide throughout. Its semi-aniline finish keeps the leather luxuriously soft, with a light wax protection that deepens and improves with age. Only the finest cuts make it into production, which is part of why the surface feels so consistently supple.
How is this piece constructed?
Every Iljan Elegant ottoman is built by hand in Mexico, piece by piece, with cutting on your specific leather only starting after you order. The frame is solid wood, hand-crafted rather than mass-produced, and expert joinery paired with a webbing support system gives it the structural integrity to hold up to real daily life.
What makes the cushions comfortable and supportive?
Comfort here is layered: the back cushions are filled with foam for a plush, sink-in feel, while the seat cushions combine pocket coils and foam for the kind of support that holds up over years of use. Beneath the seat cushions, a sinuous coil system adds resilience, so the ottoman keeps its shape and comfort well past the first season.
How should I care for it, and how will it age?
This ottoman asks very little in terms of upkeep, regular dusting and the occasional dry-cloth wipe will keep it looking great. What it will do on its own is age beautifully: the leather develops a natural patina over time that adds depth and character rather than wear. It's built, and finished, to be part of your home for the long run.
