This beautiful hand-polished belemnite sphere is from the Atlas Mountains in South Morocco. Belemnites are extinct species of Orthoceras, an ancient relative to the modern-day cephalopod- otherwise known as squids or nautilus. Orthoceras fossilize over a limestone bed and have an estimated age of about 370 million years, hailing from the Devonian period. This ancient specimen turned modern decor makes for the perfect gift to add aesthetic value and history to any home or office. This item may differ slightly in appearance from the photo and dimensions and weight are approximate.
