These grab bars are so nice and stylish compared to the standard medical ones. They are sturdy, simple, and straightforward to install, although, a word to the wise to avoid the rookie mistake I made. Make sure your escutcheon (the decorative ring) has room to fit over the base if youre installing it next to something, as I did here. I barely managed to get it on. This grab bar is perfect for my basement bathroom that my 91 year old father uses. We just had our handyman install it and it’s sturdy and secure for him. He now feels safer taking his shower. It was longer than I anticipated and my handyman had to add additional blocks to the studs in order to install the bar. Luckily the backside of the shower is unfinished in the utility room so access was easy. The finish is beautiful and it was quite heavy, so I think it will hold up for quite some time.
