The Guthrie bathtub is inspired by the modernity of industry. The unilateral bridge of the Guthrie theatre is exemplified by the addition of the bathtub’s shelf, a stylish design element with bonus functionality. Bathing in the beautiful Guthrie freestanding model is a full sensory experience. Architect Jean Nouvel designed the new Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis to harmonize with the industrial forms of the mills and silos along the adjacent Mississippi River. A textural mash-up of rectangular and circular shapes cut by a cantilevered bridge, the façade is as dramatic as the scenes that play out on the stages inside. The exterior celebrates the magic of the theater, as its walls transform to become a large flickering mural once the sun goes down.
