About This Product

The piano side chair by Sika Design invites classic midcentury style to the table. Handmade from natural rattan the design gets its cues from the functional style and soul of the 1950s and 1960s. The versatile chair features classic lines, with a high square back and a curved wide seat for comfortable dining. A slatted reed back adds an open, breezy casual charm while the distinctive herringbone weave seat seamlessly elevates the dining space.

Features

  • Our skilled workers craft each piece of Rattan furniture by hand.
  • The rattan frame will weather over time to a silvery patina and if the original natural rattan look is desired, rub it with linseed oil.
  • Rattan is strong, lightweight, flexible, and durable. Rattan is a natural climbing plant that grows in the Indonesian rainforest, without disturbing the existing structure and balance in the rainforest.
  • Non-stackable, contract-grade piece suitable for commercial and residential use.
  • Indoor use only
  • Rattan is durable, lightweight, and flexible. It is a climbing plant sustainably harvested without disturbing the Indonesian rainforest.
  • Handcrafted with rattan using a century-old method by bending the rattan into shape.
  • White plastic glides
  • During early use, natural rattan may emit a light cracking sound—this is the natural settling of the material and not a sign of damage or structural issues.
  • Sika Design holds the ISO 14001 certification, which is the international standard for Environmental Responsibility.
  • For three generations, the family behind Sika Design has taken pride in elevated Danish design and artisanal craftsmanship. We design each piece with sustainability and longevity in mind because we're not simply designing for ourselves. Just as the Andreasen family has passed our traditions down through the generations, our pieces become prized family heirlooms that reflect a timeless elegance. The original collection honors our legacy with pieces inspired by the earliest sketches and production designs from Sika Design’s origins in the 1950s. We've tastefully updated these concepts for ultimate comfort and enduring style.
  • One of the charming qualities of natural rattan is its organic response to use—during early days, you may hear a light cracking sound as the fibers settle. It’s a natural sign of the material’s authenticity and craftsmanship.
