The filter is a 3-stage ceramic filter cartridge that combines the anti-microbial properties of ceramic with the enhanced properties of activated carbon and the heavy metal reduction capabilities of ion exchange media. This filter is ideal for removing off-tastes and odors in addition to particles, bacteria, cysts, chlorine, organics, and lead. The first stage consists of a ceramic outer shell that provides genuine sub-micron filtration to reduce fine particulate matter, bacteria, cysts, and turbidity. Impregnated with silver, the ceramic structure is self-sterilizing and further inhibits bacterial growth. The second stage of this filter includes an activated carbon block inner core which is highly effective in removing chemicals including chlorine, pesticides, herbicides and many other organic compounds. The third stage incorporates ion-exchange resin media to reduce lead and heavy metals from the water.
