It is believed that the egg was gifted to the Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna by one of her close relatives. The egg is currently on permanent display at the Faberge Museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia. It contains a surprise basket with flowers, which is attached with a magnet at the base of the open egg.
