When you are protecting valuable documents you want the best. When it comes to fire protection, half as good is no good. FireKing's safe-in-a-file cabinets ensure that your vital items are secured, safe from fire, and cleverly hidden in a safe cabinet. Included, just as it sounds, is a cabinet safe inside the topmost file with a 2.4 cubic foot capacity and added fireproof protection. The safe’s lock is a UL®-listed Group II combination lock. FireKing is the choice among many companies for its outstanding, dependable fireproof filing cabinets. It will withstand a 1700-degree fire for a minimum of one hour protecting stored documents. Protecting against the heat is half the battle, fires very commonly result in building or structural collapse – an impact-rated file must be able to withstand a fall from multiple stories. For a UL-listed safe to be labeled “Impact Rated” it is heated to 1,550 degrees Fahrenheit in a furnace, raised three stories and dropped onto a pile of bricks, and then returned to the furnace and reheated. In order to meet the listing requirement, temperatures inside can't have risen above 350 degrees Fahrenheit, and sample papers left inside must be readable.
