Artisan Hector Ponce honors two traditions of his native Guatemala: The ceiba tree, which was considered sacred by the Mayans and is his country's national tree, and the imuñecas Quitapenasi or worry dolls that are believed to take any trouble away if placed under the pillow before going to sleep. He designed a colorful worry doll of a ceiba tree in human form handmade with cotton, Cibaque fibers, and cotton cord.
