First, the positive comments: the table was a pleasant surprise in that it is more white than depicted in the photos. It is a sturdy table and the extension insert is easy ro put together, even though I am a senior citizen, with spine injuries. I did it myself. Many compliments were received. The negative part is that it arrived broken. The customer service was most helpful and we resolved the issue. Really really cute! The directions were super easy to understand! I will agree with the other reviews when it comes to the gold pieces. You do have to hammer them in. Needed bigger table without spending alot and this is perfect! As with all my Wayfair purchases, I am very pleased. This thing is an absolute beast! You are going to need a partner, not just to carry it in, but to unpack and assemble. Give yourself plenty of floor space and time. I can't tell you how long it will take in one sitting because we worked on it over a period of several nights. It was a challenge to line things up at times, but patience and persistence paid off. The frame is metal and very sturdy. Not sure what the top is made of, but it appears to be, perhaps, some sort of a laminate. If you are tough on tabletops [like a crafter for instance] I would not recommend this. But for dining ... perfection! Last note: for some reason I thought I ordered a table with a leaf, for versatility. There is no leaf. It is one long table. But it is gorgeous, well made and will serve us well for many years..
