This Island is absolutely beautiful! It is very well made and my mother couldn’t be happier with it. We paid 129.00 to have it put together and the gentleman did an excellent job. The only disappointment was the man said he only gets 40.00 for his work. I think that is shameful. Nice sturdy (enough) island with enough storage to hold my KitchenAid Stand Mixer (14-cup; 6 gallon). The drop leaf is held up by locking arm in the middle of the leaf. The locking arm is sturdy and won’t collapse under pressure (you have to reach under the leaf and push in on the locking arm to get it to collapse). However, the edges of the drop leaf aren’t supported. So it’ll hold a bit of weight at the edges (plates, glasses) but I don’t think a person can rest their elbows and lean on it. Overall, the was an excellent option for my space. Saved me money (custom island would’ve been thousands of dollars). Arrived pretty quickly (no damage) and was pretty easy to assemble (though not quick). Locking wheels do hold the unit in place (unless you really push on it or try to lean upon it).. Kerry. The South Perth Island is beautiful. The down side is color is not the same in the pictures on Wayfair where you choose your color. When the item arrived the color was much darker. Not a match at all. I held the picture of the color I wanted up to my cabinets to match from the color samples on Wayfair. It looked like a perfect match. When I got the island it was actually a very dark walnut instead of the Caribbean Rum picture color on the wayfair web. The island is great for what I need it for. Materials feels very sturdy. The instructions were easy to follow and everything has pre drilled holes wherever screws were needed. There were a few negatives though, there were quite a few pieces that were we scratched or crushed. I did also get sent wrong pieces for the drawer assembly ( i got 6 30 pieces when it was supposed to have 3 30 and 3 31) I was able to just unscrew the side rails and flip them and it worked out fine. My only big complaint is the shelf that gets screwed in didn’t hold and popped all the screws out All said and done its definitely a heavy sturdy island for the price. Anonymous. Sat Aug 23 2025
