The top was broken off the lift mechanism when I opened the box. It has two runners that glue to the underside of the top that broke off. It had just a few brads and glue holding it on and some of the brads were bent over and did not penetrate the top. Beautiful side table. It is very well made I had searched to match my end tables I purchased from a furniture store several years ago and these matched perfectly.
