The assembly took longer than they suggested, and I’ve assembled my fair share of furniture. The drawers gave me a little headache until I realized I had to forcefully push them in. Overall, I love it! Wanted something different with my new plantation shutters and didn’t want a typical end table. I’ll probably never use it as a desk, but I ordered nice gold pens and personalized stationery for the drawers just in case.. Laura. Indianapolis, IN. Tue Oct 27 2026

Slightly higher than most writing desks, so have a tall or adjustable chair nearby. Solid despite the stylish slender legs. Didn’t remove the surface wrapping until assembly in order to protect the desk surface. We then discovered a manufacturing problem - very sharp splintered edge on the open storage area. Desk 45 Assembly 35 This desk is really nice looking. Overall it’s sturdy and feels pretty solid. I can’t speak to the durability yet but I’m pleased with the purchase. I’d cautiously recommend this desk. Criticisms The drawers are cheap - there’s super thin backing to the bottoms. That was a bummer for a desk at this price point. I’d also have appreciated if the drawers were soft close, there’s not a great way to add bumpers to soften it yourself and they do clang a bit. The desk is darker than in photos (even my own since my room has warm lighting!) but a very nice walnut. Assembly was a lot but it wasn’t as extreme as I expected based on reviews. It took me about 6-7hrs alone with a drill. I’m not particularly handy. HOWEVER. Parts were MISLABELED. Specifically the drawer rails. Look CLOSELY at what direction they should be going in the diagram! There’s also a step where you have to drill through holes in the extension rail but you don’t want to screw the rail slide to the desk… you basically need to line the edge of the slide so it’s sort of round with the screw and then just power the screw through it so the slide can move again. Not clear, not helped with video tutorials. I can’t imagine putting this thing together without a drill. I ultimately skipped the keyboard pull out bc I wanted the leg room and don’t need a separate keyboard. I feel like the desk still looks great without it. This thing is HEAVY. I had to open it by the front door and carry the pieces individually to the room it’d be assembled in.. Rachael. Tue Oct 27 2026

This is a great desk! It took 15 minutes to assemble, but I did put the first side on with the screw holes facing the wrong way. That did cost me a few minutes!. Karrie. Thu Aug 27 2026

Mango wood combines with iron accents featuring a muted gold finish to create the Ilford collection. The contemporary design of this collection is accentuated by hand-carved wood elements and a two-tone finish.
