  • Create a cleaning solution by mixing water, white vinegar, and mild detergent. Use a clean cloth to apply the foam that rises to the top of the solution to the stained area. Then, use a damp, clean cloth to blot away any excess residue. For lighter stains or spills on synthetic fibers, gently sponge the area with cold water and mild detergent. For tougher stains, professional rug cleaning is recommended. For pet stains, first absorb any remaining liquid with a dry paper towel, then sprinkle baking soda over the area. After five minutes, spray the solution mix onto the stain, gently scrub, and let it sit. Finally, vacuum up any remaining powder.
  • Routine vacuuming is essential to preserving the longevity and appearance of your rug. For optimal care, professional cleaning every 1-2 years is recommended to remove deeply embedded dirt, especially in high-traffic areas. In between professional cleanings, regular vacuuming will greatly extend the life of your rug. Vacuum thoroughly at least once a week with a canister vacuum, avoiding the use of beater bars. Rugs in high-traffic areas, or those exposed to pets, should be vacuumed more frequently. Be sure to avoid vacuuming the fringes, particularly on hand-knotted rugs. Instead, use a broom to gently clean the fringes.
