The Sofie Side Chair by Sika Design brings a modern outlook to the classic Parisian bistro chair. Designed for use indoors, each chair is handmade using the finest quality Malacca cane rattan with a colorful, classically woven ArtFibre™ back, arms, and seat. This dyed polyethylene material stretches for comfortable seating and maintains its shape even with constant use. Indonesian cane artisans use a century-old bending process that creates “stretch” marks on the rattan, lending to the authentic craftsmanship and originality of each piece. The Sofie side chair imparts French charm while bringing enduring comfort and durability to commercial and residential dining spaces.

Rattan is durable, lightweight, and flexible. It is a climbing plant sustainably harvested without disturbing the Indonesian rainforest.
ArtFibre™ is a Swiss-made artificial fiber made of dyed and hardwearing polyethylene that is both temperature and UV resistant.
Handcrafted with skin-on rattan using a century-old method that leaves signature organic marks created by bending the rattan into shape.
Rattan frame will weather over time to a silvery patina. If the original natural rattan look is desired, rub with linseed oil.
Sika Design holds the ISO 14001 certification, which is the international standard for Environmental Responsibility.
