There’s no actual slider mechanism but if you just pull them out slowly and carefully and don’t pack too much weight on them they should be fine. I can hang lots of coffee cups, place my coffee maker on the first shelf, which by the way, I can plug it right there on the plugs that are attached to the rack, then, I can store all my coffees, creamers, teas, and more, on the middle and bottom shelves. This is a very nice product. Heavy-duty and well engineered EXCEPT the piece that backs the upper shelves had several screw holes that didn't line up when others did. This did not effect utility as some screw holes were fine. Lots of screws show, would be better (on the white model) if the screws were white to match the construction members.
