The color of the unit I received is quite dark, darker than the photos on the site, which I think looks fantastic. The material is decent-quality plastic, I wouldn't say it's either thin or thick but somewhere in between. It seems like it should last several years, depending on how much it's opened, closed, moved around and sat on. It's pretty good size, too.
