In this office that features dark wood and black concrete floors the plastic chair mat was a garish slap in the face. This rug solved that problem. A nice, softer way to protect the floor and have smooth rolling experience in your wheely chair. The finish is smooth and soft to the touch. The rubber backing gripped the floor with no shifting or sliding. The pattern looks perfect in the space as well. This is way more durable and attractive than I thought it would be. I did not understand how this could be both a rug and also a surface on which a heavy desk chair could roll. It is somewhat like a giant mouse pad, with a rubber bottom that grips our hardwood floors, and a soft, cloth like surface that does not snag on my desk chair’s casters. I ordered these chair mats recently and was a little surprised that they felt pretty cold when they arrived. If you’re ordering during the winter, I’d recommend letting them sit at room temperature for a while before unrolling them. Once they warmed up and I followed the instructions, they flattened out without any issues. So far they’ve been working really well. My chair glides smoothly on the carpet now, which is a big improvement from before. They also look nice and are easy to wipe clean, so maintenance has been simple. The mat fits my computer desk area perfectly. However, it is not as transparent as I thought it would be. It's clear but has a frosted design to it. It had a slight plastic odor that went away within a day of opening. It wasn't laying flat from being rolled up in the box, so I took a hair-dryer to it for about 15 minutes, which fixed the issue.
