Always an outstanding draftsman, American painter Thomas Eakins developed a style that was dependent on his exacting technique of perspective drawings and shadowing studies. The artist himself was an avid rower, a popular sport in America in the 1870’s. He painted this depiction of Barney and John Biglin negotiating a tricky turn during a contest on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia which they won. The authentic stretched canvas replica painting captures the original work’s texture, depth of color, and even its subtle brushstrokes, which are applied by hand. The replica 4.375″-wide, European-style, bright gold-toned, ribbed frame is cast in quality designer resin with an acanthus leaf and floret border that draws the eye toward the beautiful image. Proudly printed and framed in the USA using imported molding.
