This throw is 50% wool and 50% acrylic. There was a definite unpleasant odor when I opened the plastic zipper bag it arrived in, strong enough that I knew I wanted to wash it before using it. There were no washing instructions on the throw or in the packaging, so I looked it up online. The instructions I found said it could be machine washed in cold water on delicate and air dried, which is what I did. It didn’t wash well, it “felted” and lots of loose threads appeared.
