A lighter shade would have been too light against my woodwork and paint color. All of the drapes are behind plants and furniture, so the length doesn't show. Curtain rod is actually the one bought and did a review on, now with the blackout curtains. The curtains are velvety and the bedroom is now about 70 darker than before. I would have appreciated it mor if the bacoutwr curtain that faced towards the window was covered by a a much thicker material, it would have made a much better difference.
