This ready to hang, gallery-wrapped art piece features dancers in a studio. Edgar Degas (19 July 1834 - 27 September 1917) was a french artist famous for his paintings, sculptures, prints, and drawings. He is especially identified with the subject of dance. He is regarded as one of the founders of impressionism, although he rejected the term, and preferred to be called a realist. He was a superb draftsman, and particularly masterly in depicting movement. His portraits are notable for their psychological complexity and for their portrayal of human isolation.

I consider myself somewhat an art snob. I love different styles of art, mostly post-impressionism and impressionism. The colors match the original quite well and this print is a lovely version of the original. However, it's too small (short) to go in the spot I planned for it, I'll have no problem finding a new spot for it in my house.. Lindsey. Gilroy, CA. Fri May 22 2015

Although another reviewer said that the frame was printed on the canvas, the description of the item had me hoping that perhaps it had since been removed. It has not. The frame and ID plate are still printed on the canvas, but the shadowing under it has a trump loeil effect and so it isn't as bothersome. It does a good job of tricking the viewers eye. The print overall is a nice quality with clear colors and the price is very reasonable for the size I purchased (35"x35").. Barbara. Westlake, OH. Mon Mar 22 2021

Giclee (jee-clay) is an advanced printmaking process for creating high quality fine art reproductions. The attainable excellence that giclee printmaking affords makes the reproduction virtually indistinguishable from the original piece. The result is wide acceptance of giclee by galleries, museums, and private collectors. Gallery wrap is a method of stretching an artist's canvas so that the canvas wraps around the sides and is secured a hidden, wooden frame. This method of stretching and preparing a canvas allows for a frameless presentation of the finished artwork.

The picture is accurate. The print quality is fine from a distance. Only on close inspection does it look cheap. Where I am putting it, it will not be subject to close inspection. With elements of both Western and Japanese art, this pastel is a still life that contrasts the light and shadow of chiaroscuro with the stark angles often found in Japanese prints. This is part of a well-regarded series by Degas, and a refreshingly far cry from the traditional European scenes of ladies at their toilette. The authentic stretched canvas replica painting captures the original work's texture, depth of color, and even its subtle brushstrokes, which are applied by hand. The replica 4.375" wide, European style, bright gold-toned, ribbed frame is cast in quality designer resin with an acanthus leaf and floret border that draws the eye toward the beautiful image. Proudly printed and framed in the USA using imported molding.
