He is regarded as one of the founders of impressionism, although he rejected the term, and preferred to be called a realist. He was a superb draftsman, and particularly masterly in depicting movement. His portraits are notable for their psychological complexity and for their portrayal of human isolation.

I consider myself somewhat an art snob. I love different styles of art, mostly post-impressionism and impressionism. The colors match the original quite well and this print is a lovely version of the original. Five stars for the art itself and two stars from the framing of it. I wish I had ordered a bigger one. It's light weight and wobbly when it hangs on the wall.
