These curtains look totally primitive, which is exactly what I wanted. They look fantastic in our bedroom. I will say, they have a liner, but they are definately not "room darkening. These are very high end linen material and beautiful, unfortunately mine came in an Amzn bag all torn up and marked with an Amzn return label. Everything was opened already and smelled pretty awful so they were clearly used.
