The mat allows you to choose if you want to use it or not. I used it as seen in my photo. The original box I received was damaged. It had come with a few scratches underneath the black part. I contacted the seller and was sent an immediate replacement so the customer service was awesome. The new one I received, and seen in my photos , is good but also has a tiny imperfection on the bottom left a tiny scratch also embedded in the black part of the frame.
