The surface was good but note this isn't a small whiteboard. Its probably better for an office setting. The quality was good overall and it seemed sturdy, the locking mechanism could be better but the whiteboard it self is the heaviest part, which has its pros and cons. The trim around the whiteboard was cheap though and coming loose. A bit of clear caulk/adhesive would fix that.
