Inspired by the tropical craftsmanship of the West Indies and classic British and Dutch colonial design periods, the Charleston end table has bamboo-carved accents and a handpainted leaf motif on the tabletop. A soft color that can be found on the ceilings of porches and entryways, window shutters, and doors in the American South, dating back more than 200 years from the Gullah folklore that held the color, kept "haints" or spirits from entering homes and dwellings. They were crafted of maple veneers.
