Customizable narrow live edge English chestnut floating shelves are functional and gorgeous! These natural live edge premium hardwood narrow rustic display shelves can also be used as a floating bookshelf or floating mantel. Stunning and unique golden brown coloration accentuating natural lighter blonde grain. If you're looking for something richer in color than maple, but not as dark as walnut, this stunning species is for you!
Mostly these will have a live edge with a varying depth of around 6" - 9". They all have their own beautiful and unique character, and will always be created from kiln dried chestnut. Some will have curl, knots, and/or spalting, and no two will look exactly the same. If you order multiple shelves in one order, we will create them from the same slab or same log so they look similar and complement each other.
These narrow wood shelves are custom, handcrafted, and made-to-order. The images are just examples of ones we've done to help you visualize the finished piece.
Features
- How it works: You choose your length. Depth will fluctuate 6" - 9" deep and be a thickness of around 1.75". Voids filled with soft black or clear epoxy. Finished with a low VOC, non-toxic tung oil-based sealer and urethane for a silky smooth matte/satin finish.
- Brackets included! Backplate brackets support 45 pounds of weight PER STUD they're attached to at 16" on center. You must hit every stud at 16" on center to take full advantage of the weight capacity rating. Back of shelf is routered to allow the backplate to sit in. Holes are drilled 12" from each other. A sheet with helpful installation tips will be provided to you in your package!
- No mass manufacturing here: these shelves are handcrafted in the USA by a small business in Northeastern Ohio. The images are just some examples of ones we've done! What you receive will be similar but also uniquely all its own.
- Our wood is responsibly sourced from forest management companies. Although once a vibrant tree, feel good knowing you're revitalizing it by giving it purpose as a beautiful piece of art you can appreciate! These are kiln dried (forced heat to remove insects and drop moisture content to a workable level). However, there will be remaining natural bug holes and wormy markings. This emphasizes character and natural uniquness of the wood, but the insects are gone.
