With her hand raised in the gesture of Abhaya or fearlessness, and her leg dangling as the ultimate refugee to her Bhaktas, Devi Durga in this statue is the manifestation of her auspicious maternal aspects, assuring the devotee of her blissfulness, while as a warning to the forces of evil, her Simha roars dynamically, as a representation of the cosmic valor of the eight-armed Jagadamba.
