National Plant Network's grower approved selections take the guesswork out of gardening! The Little Gem Magnolia combines the classic Magnolia style with a more compact growth habit. It produces medium to large white flowers, scattered throughout dark green foliage with a bronzed underside. The flowers appear in late spring and continue into early summer, emitting a lemony scent to be enjoyed by all. Although it is considered a dwarf Magnolia, the Little Gem can still reach an impressive height of 15-25' tall, with a lifespan of 50-100 years. This variety is great for smaller yards, urban gardens, privacy hedges, or looks great as a specimen tree. Ideal conditions include full sun to partial sunlight, with at least 6-8 hours of sunlight daily. Water deeply once or twice per week for the first few months, and then once per week during dry spells. Adjust water based on weather conditions. Soil should be well-draining, slightly acidic, and remain moist, but not overwatered.
